Are You Washed in the Blood?

Are You Washed in the Blood?
Earl Scruggs - Foggy Mountain Quartet

Elisha Albright Hoffman
Born:  1839 -Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania
Died: 1929 -Chicago, Illinois
Elisha Hoffman was an ordained  Presbyterian minister.  He worked with the Evangelical Association’s publishing arm in Cleveland, Ohio and also pastored several churches in the Midwest.  He wrote over 2,000 hymns including some of my favorites; Leaning on the Everlasting Arms,  Are You Washed in the Blood,  and I Must Tell Jesus

Are You Washed in the Blood?
Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless?
Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you walking daily by the Savior's side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There's a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb

  1. I learned this song, and the others you mentioned, as a child. I'm thankful that I still know all the words to every verse! We lived in TN and often heard Earl Scruggs on the radio---when my parents weren't around. They didn't approve of the Grand Ole "Opera", as my mother used to call it. :)

    1. That's funny Rosemary. Lucky you! I've been a bluegrass fan years.
